Released as a limited edition CD in May 2025, and later on streaming services in November 2025, ‘Evening Stars’ celebrates the first trilogy of Pocket 10s singles, available together for the first time in one compilation.
Rob Cantillon & the Pocket 10s are a rock band established in New York City.
In high school in Connecticut, Cantillon was the band leader of “Rob Cantillon and the Pocket Sevens”, a predominately-cover band that performed local sets and hosted a few small festivals. During college at NYU, Cantillon began performing the original music he was releasing, as well as a selection of rock covers, with an ever-changing and ever-growing rotation of highly talented musicians. That musical project has become Rob Cantillon & the Pocket 10s, a New York rock band.
The band typically performs as a four- or five-man crew, with Cantillon on the guitar and vocals, Tim Youngman on the bass guitar, Rakan Haddadin-Cameron and Ethan McDonnell on keys, and Julen Rodriguez on the drums. The band remains a collective of young and talented musicians in the New York area, brought together by the spirit of live rock and roll. Additional musicians often join the band as substitutions or guests, including, in the past, Aeneas Sparks, Felix Ambach, Eric Zeller, Gaetano Lardieri, Mattias Onnerud, Dash Chase and Shane Long on the drums, Archish Arun on keys, Jack Kastner, Justin Ma, Mario Marqués, and Eli Gunther on bass, James Power, Mary Bonema and Gavin McDonnell on guitar, and Jules Pasko and Aliza Gandhi on vocals.
Rob Cantillon and the Pocket 10s take musical influence from, among so many other artists and bands: Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, The Rolling Stones, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble, and The Clash. Some popular covers include “Mary Jane’s Last Dance” by Petty, “Sweet Up & Down” by Dave Matthews Band, and a medley of Johnny Cash’s “Folsom Prison Blues” with Elvis Presley’s “That’s All Right”.
The band’s name serves as a fitting tribute to the fact that, like so many great things, they began to come together thanks to a poker game.
The band’s first single, ‘Got To Get Away’, was released on September 22, 2023. This energetic rock track, written by Cantillon nearly five years ago, is available to stream on Spotify and Apple Music, among other major music streaming platforms. The session band for ‘Got To Get Away’ showcases Cantillon on vocals and guitar, Tim Youngman on bass and organ, Julen Rodriguez on drums, and Anna Solomon on lead guitar, and was engineered by Irving Gadoury.
The Pocket 10s’ second single, ‘Going Postal’, was released on November 10, 2023. Known to fans of the band as the song that closes out all their sets, and penned by Cantillon in the spring of 2022, ‘Going Postal’ is available on Spotify, Apple Music, and all major streaming platforms. The session band for ‘Going Postal’ includes Cantillon on vocals and guitar, Tim Youngman on bass, Archish Arun on keys, Justin Gerber on lead guitar, and Mattias Onnerud on drums, and was engineered by Irving Gadoury and Jacob Choplin.
The newest single, ‘No Reason’, was released on Friday, May 9, 2025. Initially recorded at Douglass Recording in Brooklyn back in January 2024, ‘No Reason’, written by Rob Cantillon, features guitar and vocals from Cantillon, vocals from Jules Pasko, bass and keys from Tim Youngman, drums from Julen Rodriguez, and lead guitar from Luca Yeager. The track was engineered by Irving Gadoury.
All Pocket 10s singles are independently released under the eponymous label Rob Cantillon & the Pocket 10s, formerly known as Pocket 10s Records and As In CT Records.
